Updated COVID-19 Guidance

January 3, 2022

The Omicron variant of COVID-19 is circulating in Vermont and the entire United States. Please continue to wear masks and stay home when sick to help slow the spread of the virus. At this point we are advising everyone in the SVSU community to wear close fitting masks. Masks are available at all schools for students who are not wearing a well fitting, appropriate mask.

Please review the updated COVID-19 guidance for SVSU staff and students from the Vermont Department of Health. This information is subject to change, and we will update you all accordingly.

If you have a positive test (PCR, LAMP, or antigen) regardless of vaccination status:

  • If you test positive from an antigen test you do not need to follow up with a PCR test. Please report this to the Vermont Department of Health.
  • Stay home and isolate for 5 days.
  • Notify your close contacts that you have tested positive.
  • Notify your school that you have tested positive for COVID-19.
  • You can leave your home after day 5 if:
    • you never had symptoms, or your symptoms have improved and you feel better
    • AND you have had no fever for at least 24 hours without the use of medicine that reduces fevers
    • AND you wear a mask around others through day 10.
  • AND it is required that you have two negative antigen tests performed at least 24 hours apart beginning no earlier than day 4.
