Assessment Reports

The State of Vermont has a Comprehensive Assessment System. The Agency of Education coordinates the implementation and administration of all components of the Vermont Comprehensive Assessment System (CAS), including the development of alternate assessments. The Agency also identifies, analyzes, and reports on outcomes and data measured by the CAS. Established by the State Board of Education in 1996, the Vermont Comprehensive Assessments System (CAS) evaluates student performance in the state's schools based on Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards, CCSS Essential Elements and English Language Development Standards with the goal of improving teaching and learning.

The Agency of Education coordinates the implementation and administration of all Vermont statewide summative assessments. The Vermont Education Dashboard has results from the State assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics as well as the Vermont Science Assessment.

These results are found in the Vermont  Annual Snapshot:
State Report Card
Under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, states and school districts are required to prepare and disseminate report cards. Requirements for the data elements to be reported are set forth under section 1111(h) of the law. Vermont’s state report card data is published across the following dashboards.

The Annual Snapshot
The Annual Snapshot is part of Vermont's state plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act. The Vermont Annual Snapshot is a quantitative look at school quality, measuring performance for schools, supervisory unions and school districts and the state as a whole. Released in the winter, the Snapshot measures a range of indicators including, academic proficiency, high quality staffing, personalization, safe, healthy schools and investment priorities and meets the majority of Vermont’s state report card reporting requirements.

Vermont Education Dashboard
The Vermont Education Dashboard is part of Vermont’s state report card reporting requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act. During each fiscal year, the Agency of Education collects data from Vermont's supervisory unions and school districts about students, staff, enrollment and assessments. The data collected help inform us, schools, educators and taxpayers about the functionality and success of Vermont's education system.
