FAQs

My computer is asking me to change my password but it says the password doesn't meet complexity requirements. What does it need to be?

A: The new password must meet new complexity requirements. It must be at least 8 characters long and meet 3 of the following 4 rules:
  1. at least one UPPER case letter
  2. at least one LOWER case letter
  3. at least one number
  4. at least one special character (for example: !@#$%^&*()_+)
 

I have a new computer account and I reset my password but I can't login to my Google Apps account. Help!

A: The password requirements for Google Apps are more strict than those for your SVSU account. For Google Apps, the new password must meet the following complexity requirements. It must be at least 8 characters long and meet 3 of the following 4 rules:
  1. at least one UPPER case letter
  2. at least one LOWER case letter
  3. at least one number
  4. at least one special character (for example: !@#$%^&*()_+)
 

I have reset my password and now I can't login to my Google Apps account. Help!

A: The new password must meet new complexity requirements. It must be at least 8 characters long and meet 3 of the following 4 rules:
  1. at least one UPPER case letter
  2. at least one LOWER case letter
  3. at least one number
  4. at least one special character (for example: !@#$%^&*()_+)

NOTE: For your passwords to synchronize, you must change it using a Windows computer; you cannot change your password using a Chromebook and have them synchronize. As an alternative, you can change your password by connecting to https://selfservice.svsu.org, entering your username, old password, and new password (twice).

 

How do I record a voicemail greeting for my SVSU telephone?

A: To record your greeting message:
  1. Select Voicemail (envelope button).
  2. Scroll down to and select Greeting.
  3. Click Record and record your greeting.
  4. Press Stop when finished recording.
  5. Press Listen to play the greeting.
  6. Press Submit when finished.
 
 

My computer display is rotated 90 degrees and everything is coming up sideways - HELP!!

A: Pressing the CTRL+ALT+↑ (up arrow) keys should re-orient your screen to the normal display.

 

 

I have plugged in my headphones or speakers but I'm getting no sound.

A: Check the port your speakers/headphones are plugged into. The port is often color coded green or has a headphone symbol next to the port. Next, check to see if your volume has been muted or turned down low.

 

How do I enable zoom on a Chromebook?

A. This is pretty easy.
  • Login to the Chromebook
  • Get into Settings
  • Click Show advanced settings...
  • Scroll down to Accessibility options
  • Click the checkbox for Enable screen magnifier
  • Activate by pressing CTRL+ALT+Screen Brightness keys (increasing brightness to zoom in or decreasing brightness to zoom out)
